When dogs are exposed to some substances, allergies may occur, just as does occur in man. Substances which cause allergies in man can also cause allergies in dogs. Ticks also occasionally cause parasitic dermatitis and so also are chiggers, gnats and deer flies. Some mites called Demodex are known to attack young dogs causing a dermatitis known as Demodex.
• Neurogenic Dermatitis
Sometimes, there are no traceable cause to the unease experienced in dogs. When such situation arises, we say the dog is suffering from neurogenic dermatitis.
Secondary Bacterial Infections
Bacterial allergies can be identified in dogs by red blotches on the skin, hair loss and skin formation that looks like ringworm. Typically, bacteria infections are known to be secondary to other allergies such as neurogenic and parasitism. A major solution to this is to get a blood test of the blood in order to know the pathogen responsible.
